If you’re near the coast, join a surf lifesaving club, get your bronze medallion and get stuck in to some volunteer patrolling, club training and events. You’ll meet great people across a range of ages, industries and experiences, gain valuable skills and build up a shared history and sense of community super quickly.
There’s also awesome growth opportunities - in the last year I’ve completed a leadership program and rescue boat driver qualification.
If you’re not into the water side of things there’s plenty of other ways to get involved in a club and feel the same sense of connection.
This morning was pretty special, an ocean swim, beach running event and board paddle with the masters crew for a breast cancer fundraiser. Yesterday evening there was a a fun quiz night. You’re catching up with the same people across the weekend. Amazing sense of community and great conversations happening.
