The masters women at my surf lifesaving club in NZ, aka the 'Re-Belles', were featured in a local magazine recently. It's a great article about challenging the status quo and showing age is no barrier to strength and endurance.

I went back to my NZ home town Mount Maunganui for the Christmas break last year and spent many happy hours on and off the water with this crew and reconnecting with the club. They adopted me as an honoury Re-Belle which was pretty cool (especially as I don't meet the age criteria!).

One of the great things about being part of surf lifesaving across AU/NZ is it's a great international community. As well as me there was another visiting Aussie from the East coast at the club over the holidays. We were truly welcomed and both rejoined/requalified to take part in a local surf carnival, which was a heap of fun. Being part of the camaradarie of the group was a real highlight of the trip.
